Vindictus – Episode 4

Along with the update came a great deal of increased experience!  Double Experience Event, available to everyone during the event hours of 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Pacific (9:00 PM until 11:00 PM Eastern).  This event is only going to last from today until Friday, so take advantage while you can.

Aside from that great news there are now new docks available: Prairie Entrance and Ruins and Sanctity.  Also, the level cap has been raised to 44, from the previous 38.  I’m sure many players are already 40 upon me writing this.  I still need to get my Evie through Ainle, she’s only 26!  >.>

If you live in North American and haven’t tried out Vindictus yet, click here.  Those of you who reside on the other side of the Atlantic will have to wait until the end of the year (or so it’s rumored).

Silly Frilly Outfits

I’m at the stage in my Evie adventuring where everyone around my level looks pretty much the same.  The sad thing is we all got together and decided to buy our clothes from the Little Bo Peep catalog.  Now I’m pushing really hard to get into some more practical mage-alchemist attire.

Overall I like the class, but I am beginning to miss Fiona now and again.  Evie has no grapple maneuvers that I have seen yet.  I recall a video of her using some interesting group levitate ability on everything around her… but I’m assuming I won’t get a taste of that until later.

There’s still some hiccups in the latency department for group missions.  I really wish they would make it more stable.  Usually I am cutting myself to only two other members to reduce the chance for random lag.  I can play solo and enjoy myself for only so long.

Evie – Day 1

First Impression: I really enjoy the fighting style.  It is very melee based, but if I think of it more like I’m playing an “alchemist” instead of a mage then I don’t mind all that much.  You have your spells slotted up where your quick items would be, leading me to believe that you will carry a limited number of items.  They make up for this by giving Evie abilities like revive among other things.  Beside all of this, I love swinging around a staff… It just has a nice feel to it.

After a few hours I’m moving along nicely.  Evie is incredibly fun to play.  The health shield helps a great deal when fighting the normal mobs, but you won’t want to rely on it during boss battles.  Coming from a character who can block attacks I find myself trying to do the same.  I need to get used to timing my dodges better. x]

Vindictus – 1.08 Season of the Witch

The Mage Alchemist will be available to players tomorrow.  From the few Korean videos I’ve seen of this class she seems to pack a decent punch.  However, I get the impression that her play style is too similar to the melee classes.  I am eager to give her a try and let my Fiona take a little break…. she’s been working so hard lately.

All servers are going down from 22:00 until 4:30 PST (forgive the military time >_>).  I have the rest of the week off which gives me a pretty free schedule to test out the new class. Expect more frequent updates on her as I progress. :D

Open Beta Trailer

I’ve really been enjoying Vindictus since I installed it on my PC.  It has the makings of a great action mmo and is enjoyable to play for hours on end, even alone.  Just recently I found it was using the Source Engine, which makes sense with all the game’s physics.  There are some things to mention for anyone who is playing or wants to play.  If you don’t have a stable ISP, don’t try to host a mission for other players.  Vindictus is set up to have the “party leader” for the mission be the host for the level.  So, a slower connection means lag for the rest of the team.  Since it works this way, you can also be affected by a really laggy individual who joins your party. I know Nexon is working to make this less of an issue, it’s already improved a great deal since closed beta.

If you ever want to look me up, I play a Fiona named Lethuin on the West Server.  :)

Oh, one final thing.  The fishing in the game, whenever fish decide to show up, is extreme.  I won’t go into the details right now, but I will say this: harpoon crossbows attached at the wrist.
