Rune-keeper Update – Fire Yay!

The new Dev Diary went into the known details of the Rune-keeper update.  It seems our class is too good.

The Rune-keeper currently sits at top tier in both damage and healing output.

I’ve personally done the healing bit and enjoyed it.  I like the challenge of maintaining HoTs over a group and working preemptively against necessary spot healing.  I’ve also goofed around with Fury of Storms.  However, I’m a fire RK (Rune-keeper) through and through!

To sum up the non fire trees:

Solitary Thunder

  • More flavor.
    • The tree was thought of bland so they’re spicing it up. (You’ll have to slightly adjust your typical skill rotation, but overall the tree is still critical heavy)
  • New Ability

Benedictions of Peace

  • Skills cost more power
  • Improved spot healing
  • New ability

To get more information on these trees please refer to the link earlier in my post. :)

Now to the good stuff!

Cleansing Fires

  • New Skill – Essay of Flame
    • Applies a Tier 3 Writ of Flame (awesome)
    • High power cost
    • 60 second cooldown
    • Requires 6 Battle Attunement (I get the impression I will be using this ability to stick a tier 3 WoF on a secondary or tertiary mob that needs some fire management)
    • Has a 6 second induction (gross….)
  • 4 Trait Set Bonus
    • Increased resistance penetration (great!)
    • Reduced induction time on “Essay of Flame” to 1.5 seconds
  • Scathing Retort
    • Debuff reworked. It will now linger on a foe for an amount of time based on how long you channel for (great for boss fights)
  • Writ of Flame”
    • No longer occasionally becomes resisted and dispels on tier up or down (didn’t notice this too much, but should be helpful)
  • Frost-Burn
    • No longer decreases the damage on Writ of Flame (also didn’t notice all that much)

Overall great changed are coming my way.  The biggest issues I dealt with as a fire RK was building up my dots before everyone else killed them, mainly on trash.  Eventually I didn’t worry about building up until boss fights.  I feel I’ll be able to use the first couple trash mobs to build and throw Essay of Flame on the tougher baddie in the group to really help burn him down.  Now that I have these changes to look forward to… maybe I should finish up Mirkwood on my Rune-keeper. >.>

Vindictus – 1.08 Season of the Witch

The Mage Alchemist will be available to players tomorrow.  From the few Korean videos I’ve seen of this class she seems to pack a decent punch.  However, I get the impression that her play style is too similar to the melee classes.  I am eager to give her a try and let my Fiona take a little break…. she’s been working so hard lately.

All servers are going down from 22:00 until 4:30 PST (forgive the military time >_>).  I have the rest of the week off which gives me a pretty free schedule to test out the new class. Expect more frequent updates on her as I progress. :D

The Flames Get Higher

I’m startin’ to wonder how long all these fires ‘ave been ablaze.  I haven’t seen sign of nothin’ an’ nobody all this time, yet I find more and more of these buildings burnin’.  The river that runs through this land runs rank with stench, bloated corpses ferry themselves downriver or dock against a low tree limb.  Those damn soldiers in High Pass could do a greater good ‘ere than hold’n up in that tavern o’ theirs.

I thought I heard the cry of a wild boar time and again, still I have yet to come across any living thing.  Maybe all the raiders already came through here or maybe their waitin’ for me up ahead.  I’m startin’ to hate this damned area.

There was a large tower silhouette in the distance an’ that’s where I decided to head.  It happened to be the only thing not on fire and I’ll be able to see what lies farther along the trail once I climb it.  Only thing that worries me is that it’s the only building not on fire…

You wouldn't see a dwarven building tilt like that...

[Side note]: I’d like to apologize for the delayed update.  It’s been a rather scorching week so far and having no AC is really taking its toll on my “daytime” (sleeping with a fan on me).  Thankfully the temperature is dropping this weekend and I won’t be so inclined to forgo any computer activity during the day. Expect the updates to continue on schedule and on time. :D

The Smoke Clears

Those manlings mus’ think themselves a humorous sort.  Talk of raids that may or may not be this end o’ the mountain.  I could smell smoke from fires burning in the valley below.  I’ll be movin’ forward from now on with a keen eye on me surroundin’.

The closer I get to the bottom o’ this mountain all I can see is thick blankets of smoke in the air.  I can’t ‘ear a thing ‘cept for the roaring of fires.  Nothing is stirring and I don’t like it.

I made it through the smoke, seems most of it collects near the base o’ the mountain.  The air gets clearer and I become more troubled.  The sights before me unsettle my nerves for the time bein’, but I ‘ave no other path to take.

Just need to... follow the road... yeah.

The “P-Letter” for June

While I wish 1.3.6 was already here, I’m looking forward to some of the many RVR changes they are planning.  It’s great to see that the many cries for change are actually getting acknowledged.

Also, I started up someserver censusposts for each server on the forum.  I’m hoping to get some scope on how players feel about their server population, balance, community, and overall attitude.  I’ll let it run for a few days until I feel satisfied or they crash and burn from too many trolls weighing it down and trying to light it on fire.
