I’m at the stage in my Evie adventuring where everyone around my level looks pretty much the same. The sad thing is we all got together and decided to buy our clothes from the Little Bo Peep catalog. Now I’m pushing really hard to get into some more practical mage-alchemist attire.
Overall I like the class, but I am beginning to miss Fiona now and again. Evie has no grapple maneuvers that I have seen yet. I recall a video of her using some interesting group levitate ability on everything around her… but I’m assuming I won’t get a taste of that until later.
There’s still some hiccups in the latency department for group missions. I really wish they would make it more stable. Usually I am cutting myself to only two other members to reduce the chance for random lag. I can play solo and enjoy myself for only so long.

The Mage Alchemist will be available to players tomorrow. From the few Korean videos I’ve seen of this class she seems to pack a decent punch. However, I get the impression that her play style is too similar to the melee classes. I am eager to give her a try and let my Fiona take a little break…. she’s been working so hard lately.
All servers are going down from 22:00 until 4:30 PST (forgive the military time >_>). I have the rest of the week off which gives me a pretty free schedule to test out the new class. Expect more frequent updates on her as I progress. :D

I’ve really been enjoying Vindictus since I installed it on my PC. It has the makings of a great action mmo and is enjoyable to play for hours on end, even alone. Just recently I found it was using the Source Engine, which makes sense with all the game’s physics. There are some things to mention for anyone who is playing or wants to play. If you don’t have a stable ISP, don’t try to host a mission for other players. Vindictus is set up to have the “party leader” for the mission be the host for the level. So, a slower connection means lag for the rest of the team. Since it works this way, you can also be affected by a really laggy individual who joins your party. I know Nexon is working to make this less of an issue, it’s already improved a great deal since closed beta.
If you ever want to look me up, I play a Fiona named Lethuin on the West Server. :)
Oh, one final thing. The fishing in the game, whenever fish decide to show up, is extreme. I won’t go into the details right now, but I will say this: harpoon crossbows attached at the wrist.

For all of you who are interested, Vindictus is moving into Open Beta in two weeks time. I’ve been having a blast smashing walls, pillars, gnoll faces, and anything else that breaks with whatever I can lift.
Right now, the game is rather limited on what is available in terms of character customization and class selection. However, they’re throwing in some more of those options in Open and I’ll be sure to fiddle with that. I’m hoping they introduce Evie, as she’s the only caster class of the 5 classes. Being able to lift everything around you with gravity powers is going to be fun. :D
[side comment]: since I was on the topic of “betas” I wanted to say that I heard a little rumor saying that Arenanet was not going to have a beta period for Guild Wars 2. Reasons behind this rumor were because of a certain Anet developer supposedly saying that he felt beta tests presented a free to play version of an incomplete and buggy game which can give a sour first impression of the game to the public. Or something to that affect. A confirmation on this would be great if there is one. If not, it’s a topic maker somewhere! Enjoy~

I think I’m starting to get the hang of this… recording… thing. Though, that fatty black border is not what I had hoped for. Perhaps better luck next time! D:
I got the full length of one of the first “major” boss fights in Vindictus. I pug’d it with a group of relatively close level Fiona‘s, a Fiona is the name of their “tank” class btw. x]
I want to point out that I’m still trying to remember that F1-F4 are not the hotkeys for my in combat potions, as you will see by my “nice” and “thank you” emote-phrase mid fight. There is a good clip of my gloves being broken, followed up later by my shield being smashed. You will notice that some of my ally’s who were sporting a breastplate and helmet at one point are later left with a tattered white ruffled pirate shirt and nothing but the hair on their heads to protect them.
Overall I really enjoyed the fight, it was my first time firing one of those cool chain shots. It took me a moment to figure out how to recall my hook. It wasn’t a “long” fight as far as MMO’s go, but it was fully engaging and heroically reminiscent of a good console action/adventure boss battle.
